Location

Cannon Camping & Caravan Park is located on the beautiful Sussex Coast in Pevensey Bay, Our site is a short walk away from the beach and within 1/2 mile of a wide range of amenities, including Pevensey Bay village and Sovereign Harbour where you will find waterfront restaurants and bars, shops and supermarket.   

Getting around:

There is a bus stop conveniently situated directly outside our park entrance which means you can leave the car at the site and visit the surrounding areas and towns with ease. The number 99 takes you into Eastbourne every 20 mins through the hour.  

There is a cycle path located directly outside our site which leads to Sovereign Harbour and continues onto the Eastbourne seafront and pier, or for the more adventurous take the other direction you can cycle all the way to Bexhill and Hastings along the coast.  

Pevensey Bay Village

The village offers a range of shops including, gift shop, bakery, chemist, post office, launderette, beachfront restaurants, cafe’s, takeaways and the Castle Inn, a great local pub serving hot food. There is also direct access to the beach and beachfront parking in the village.  Low tide reveals a huge expanse of wide sandy beach with views to Hastings and Eastbourne. 

Sovereign Harbour Marina:

Sovereign Harbour Marina is well worth a visit and is a 15-20 minute walk. Here, you can take a boat trip or sit and relax and enjoy the harbour views in one of the many excellent waterfront restaurants and bars or enjoy some retail therapy at the stores. There is even a conveniently located Asda Supermarket for all your grocery needs.  

Pevensey Castle:

A pleasant 20 – 25 minute walk following the footpath at the bottom of our fields,  takes you to the historic villages of Westham and Pevensey.  Here you will find the historic Roman Fortress Pevensey Castle as well as  Norman and Saxons churches, quaint tea rooms and  the Royal Oak & Castle a fantastic local dog friendly pub with a  large garden area.

For those who like a challenge the inspiring 31-mile 1066 Country Walk starts at Pevensey Castle, winding its way to Herstmonceux, Battle and across the countryside to Rye.

Eastbourne

Eastbourne town and seafront are a short car or bus journey away.  The seafront boasts a wealth of attractions, including the famous carpet gardens and landmark Victorian Pier which has a variety of shops, Victorian tea rooms and  fantastic views of the English Channel.

The seafront bandstand was built in 1935 and holds several shows a week throughout the Summer with many tribute acts and a weekly firework display.

Why not take the open top bus from Eastbourne Pier and take in the stunning views as you drive over the famous South downs, Beachy Head, Birling Gap and through the lovely village of East Dean.

Hastings:

Hastings can be reached by bus or is a 40 minute drive away and offers lots of attractions for a great day out including the Old Town with its aquarium, junk shops, cafes and pubs. Or take the vehicular railway to the smugglers caves. 

Herstmonceux Castle

The oldest brick built castle still standing in the country is a short 15 minute drive away. Dogs on leads are welcome and they have a tea room for the essential tea and cake!

Rye

A little further away but still under an hour by car, Rye is a fantastic day out.  The harbour and nature reserve provide some lovely walks, or visit the town where you will find quirky shops, antiques, medieval inns, tea rooms and much more.

Cuckmere Haven

Fabulous walk along the river down to the sea. For the more adventurous hire a kayak or paddle board and explore the Cuckmere river.

Brighton

The vibrant city of Brighton offers great shops, sightseeing, activities and entertainment. You can travel by car along the coast or take the train from Pevensey Bay (change at Eastbourne). 

South Downs

The South Downs provides stunning views and fantastic walks.

How to find us:

We are easily reached by road, just off the A259 east of Eastbourne. There are two station stops – Pevensey & Westham and Pevensey Bay make it easy to travel to the area without the car. Bus and rail links also enable easy movement around the area, inclusive of direct rail links to Eastbourne (links to Brighton),  Hastings and Ashford International.
